Open Space Committee

The Milton Open Space Committee is a volunteer working group appointed by the Town Board, with the purpose to help identify potential open-space properties and explain the conservation options to those property owners.  It also works with the Board of Supervisors and township administration to develop procedures to maintain and acquire open space.

The Committee works to identify areas in our community that will conserve unique natural areas and important open space within the Town that could be lost to future development.  By staying informed about the future development, they can make recommendations that support the green spaces for our Town.

A Milton Trail Master Plan was drawn up and adopted in 2022 to provide a vision of trails to network with other trails, make new nature trails, pathways, and parks.

The goal is to set aside private or public use land to be preserved as green space for trails or parks to greatly increase connectivity in the Town and region and contribute to the expansion and improved connectivity of bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

The Open Space Committee meets monthly.  Meetings are open to the public.
