Historic Structures and Places Committee

The Committee meets regularly each month and continues to research and develop guidelines for a plan to preserve the legacy and heritage of the Town through Committee action in collaboration with Milton Town Government. The Committee also continues to review and edit their initial Listing of Historic Structures and Places that contribute to the legacy and heritage of the Town.  Drafts of these documents will be presented to the public during a workshop-type meeting to be scheduled at a later date.  For more complete background information, please refer to the Town website at www.townofmiltonnewyork.com and/or call the Historian at 885-9220 Ext 135.

Wall of Honor for Milton Veterans

Shelving has been installed in the meeting room for display of the picture and proclamation honoring those Milton deceased veterans who have been recognized by the Saratoga County Deceased Veterans Program in recent years. These veterans individually and collectively represent all Milton residents who have served in the military of this country.

Commemorating America’s Civil War 1861 – 1865

April 12, 2011 marks the sesquicentennial of the beginning of the American Civil War.  Nearly a century of discord between North and South finally exploded on April 12, 1861, with the bombardment of Fort Sumter.  While no battles were fought on New York State ground, many from New York served during those war years, many of those making the ultimate sacrifice or suffering wounds and disease.  The Historian’s Office has some Civil War files but would be interested in adding information regarding Civil War service of your Milton ancestors.  Please call 885-9220 Ext 135.
