How Do I...
- Know if I need a building permit?

Most all construction projects require a building permit; new constructions, additions, decks, fences, pools, roofs, etc. Contact the Building Department at 884-2764 regarding your project and its permit requirements.

- Get a copy of a tax bill?

Copies of tax bills can be obtained by contacting the Tax Collector’s Office at 885-9220, ext. 119.
- License my dog?
-
Dog licenses are issued by the Town Clerk’s Office. The cost is $13.50 for a spayed or neutered dog and $20.50 for an unsprayed or unneutered dog. Proof of the spay or neuter, and rabies vaccination is required. Starting January 1, 2011 the cost will be $13.50 for spayed/neutered dogs.
- Get a marriage license?

Marriage licenses are issued by the Town Clerk’s Office for a cost of $40.00. Both parties must be present with identification. Any and all divorce papers from all prior marriages are required (if applicable).
- Obtain a handicap parking permit?

Temporary and Permanent Handicap Parking Permits are available at the Town Clerk’s Office. An application that must be signed by a physician is available here at our Town's Licenses and Form Page or by calling 885-9220, ext. 110.
- Get access to Town Records?

The Town Clerk’s Office makes available all town records during regular office hours. Records can be obtained by completing a Freedom of Information Request (FOIL) form available here at our Town's Licenses and Form Page or by calling 885-9220, ext. 110.
- Reserve a pavilion in the park for a special function?

Park pavilions can be reserved by contacting the Town Clerk’s Office. For Town residents, pavilions 1 & 2 are available for $75 each, and pavilion 3 for $50. For non-residents, there is a $100 fee for pavilions 1, 2 & 3. An application is available at our Town's Licenses and Form Page or by contacting the Town Clerk’s Office at 885-9220, ext. 110.
- Reserve the Community Center for a special function?

The Community Center can be reserved by contacting the Supervisor’s Office at 885-9220, ext. 113. For Town residents, the cost is $50 per hour with an additional $100 charge for use of the kitchen. The Center is available to non-residents for an additional 15%. Call for availability. An application is available here at our Town's Licenses and Form Page.
- Dispose of old paint?

Regular latex paint is not considered hazardous. Open the can to let the paint harden then dispose of it in your trash.
- Dispose of large items?

The Town does not pick up and dispose large bulk items. Metal appliances can be disposed of at the County Recycling Center on County Farm Road (1-866-738-7348). Other large items may be accepted at the Hiram Hollow Transfer Station in Wilton. Call 793-1098 for details.
- Get sand / or salt for use in the winter?

The Highway Department makes available sand and salt (in five-gallon buckets only) for residents’ use during the winter. If the gates are closed entry is prohibited for safety reasons. In this case a pile will be left outside the gate. For more information contact the Highway Department at 885-5655.
- Get a document notarized?

A Notary is generally available at the Town Offices during regular offices hours. Proof of identity is required.
- Address a problem with my water service?

The Town of Milton does not provide municipal water to its residents. Depending on where you live, your water may come from the Village of Ballston Spa (885-5711), Heritage Springs Water (371-7942/467-8601), Rowlands Hollow Water (226-0107/527-3268) or the City of Saratoga Springs (587-3550). Contact the entity you pay your water bill with any concerns.
